Old Speckled Hen was first brewed by Morland in Abingdon in 1979 to mark the MG factory's 50th anniversary in the town. Its name came from a paint-spattered MG factory car, affectionately known as the 'Owld Speckl'd Un'. The beer later became part of Greene King's range.
